Now I've bought my fair share of items to repurpose and fix.
Many have gone down in history as epic fails.
Here are my stories.
Dress Lamp
I found this fabulous vintage sequin dress with the most amazing fringe. Sadly, the strap was broken and there was a tear on the side, but I bought it anyway. I had this awesome idea to turn it into a lamp shade. Freakin awesome, right! Well, it never occured to me that the sequins were sewn on with one piece of thread per strand and when I started to cut up the dress the sequins started to fall off. I carried on though. Then when I tried to attach the dress to the lampshade the fringe started to fall break off. I don't think I need to even finish the story for you to know what happened in the end. EPIC FAIL.
The chair that almost was
This was one of my very first reupholstery projects. I bought the chair for $5 and spent countless hours removing all of the original fabric and padding. I loved the new fabric I bought for the chair; a nice green floral pattern that spoke to me. I was just about done, as you can see from the picture above, when I came in one day and saw our sassy dachshund Molly sleeping soundly on the chair. When I pulled her off my WHITE fabric chair, I saw it. She had taken her afternoon snack and eaten it all over the chair. Long story short, the chair ended up in the garbage. EPIC FAIL.
Bookshelf Clock
I looked for months for a cheap grandfather clock to turn into a bookshelf. Found this beauty at a thrift store for $12. Ugly as sin, but ripe for a repurposing. It sat in my backyard for months. Then I sold it a garage sale for $5. EPIC FAIL.
